Dzogchen buddhist meditation retreat center

Our Sangha

Gomde's sangha or lay community extends across North America. A key component of Gomde's vision is developing a community of like-minded lay practitioners, people who maintain their commitments to family and work as they practice the basic state as it is, wherever they are. Dzogchen's emphasis on natural clarity and spaciousness makes it possible to mingle practice with daily life. Sitting at a red light, cooking dinner, negotiating a difficult meeting -- the opportunities for practice are as limitless as life itself.

Community gatherings on weekends and holidays draw members to Gomde for shared practice, tsoks or communal feast offerings, and work-study sessions. Study and practice groups in a half-dozen urban locations across the U.S. meet monthly to watch videotapes of teachings and practice specific sadhanas. Together, we are building the mandala of a lay community that extends across North America, a sangha committed to the long-term vision of Gomde as a positive force in Western Buddhism for many years to come.
