Your Will and Bequests: A Life’s Gift

When you include Rangjung Yeshe Gomde in your estate planning, you ensure that the resources created throughout your lifetime will have deeply positive impacts on future generations. Fortunately, each of us can prepare for the inevitability of death in a thoughtful and generous way. We can acknowledge that even in death, our power to benefit others is still fully present.

If you, as a member or friend of Rangjung Yeshe Gomde, are inspired to give in this way, we recommend that you consider using the following language in your will or trust. If you have any questions regarding any of the words or concepts mentioned in this section, please contact adminassist@gomdeusa.org.

Unrestricted Gifts: These are gifts to Rangjung Yeshe Gomde that help the foundation itself and potentially all of its ongoing projects.

If you would like to leave a certain sum of money to Rangjung Yeshe Gomde, include the following language:

“I give to Rangjung Yeshe Gomde California, a nonprofit corporation created  under the laws of the state of California, located in Leggett, California, the sum of $___________ for Rangjung Yeshe Gomde California’s general purposes.”

If you would like to leave a certain percentage of your estate to Rangjung Yeshe Gomde, include the following language:

“I give to Rangjung Yeshe Gomde California, a nonprofit corporation created under the laws of the state of California, located in Leggett, California, ___% of my estate for Rangjung Yeshe Gomde California’s general purposes.”

If you would like to leave all of your remaining assets to Rangjung Yeshe Gomde (whatever is left after other gifts have been granted), include the following language:

“All the remainder of my estate, including real and personal property, I give to Rangjung Yeshe Gomde California, a nonprofit corporation created under the laws of the state of California, located in Leggett, California for Rangjung Yeshe Gomde California’s general purposes.”

If you would like your property to pass to Rangjung Yeshe Gomde only if all of your other beneficiaries have died or declined to accept your bequests, include the following language:

“If the above named beneficiaries predecease me or disclaim any interest in [description of the property], I give my residuary estate to Rangjung Yeshe Gomde California, a nonprofit corporation created under the laws of the state of California, located in Leggett, California, for its exempt purposes.”

Restricted Gifts: These are gifts that exclusively help one of Rangjung Yeshe Gomde’s ongoing projects, or that establish a new project.

For example, imagine that you wanted to leave a gift for building the Mandala temple at Gomde. If you would like to leave a certain sum of money for this purpose, you would include the following language:

“I give to Rangjung Yeshe Gomde California, a nonprofit corporation created under the laws of the state of California, located in Leggett, California, the sum of $___________ for building the Mandala Temple in Leggett, California.”

If you would like to leave a certain percentage of your estate for building the Mandala Temple, you would include the following language:

“I give to Rangjung Yeshe Gomde California, a nonprofit corporation created under the laws of the state of California, located in Leggett, California, ___% of my estate for building the Mandala temple in Leggett, California.”

If you would like to leave all of your remaining assets for building the Mandala Temple (whatever is left after other gifts have been granted), include the following language:

“All the remainder of my estate, including real and personal property, I give to Rangjung Yeshe Gomde California, a nonprofit corporation created under the laws of the state of California, located in Leggett, California for building the Mandala Temple in Leggett, California.”

If you would like your property to pass property to Rangjung Yeshe Gomde California for building the Mandala Temple only if all of your other beneficiaries have died or declined to accept your bequests, include the following language:

“If the above named beneficiaries predecease me or disclaim any interest in [description of the property], I give my residuary estate to Rangjung Yeshe Gomde California, a nonprofit corporation created under the laws of the state of California, located in Leggett, California, for building the Mandala Temple in Leggett, California.”

If you would like your property to go to another project of Rangjung Yeshe Gomde, you would replace “for building the Mandala Temple in Leggett, California” with the appropriate phrase indicating the way in which you wish your property to be used.
