Ani Dekyi Chodron
Tara Retreat
July 15 - 18, 2010
Price: $165.00
This weekend retreat involves four days of teachings and practice centering around the inspirational figure of Green Tara. Tara embodies the most compelling and vital qualities of the feminine: beauty, grace, nurturance, care, and protection. She is also a true warrior, vanquishing fear and ignorance.
Ani Dekyi Chodron will teach on the practices of a profound terma from the Chokling Tersar: The Essential Instruction on the Threefold Excellence, from the Mind Treasure Drolma Zabtik, the Profound Essence of Tara.
Tara is known for her exceedingly great resolve and immense tenacity. As Adeu Rinpoche says, "The special quality of Tara is her extraordinary compassionate resolve to benefit all beings by removing whatever causes them to feel anxious or afraid." Join the long lineage of courageous practitioners who apply the energy of this aspiration to benefit all beings.
Transcendent knowledge is beyond thought, word and description.
It neither arises nor ceases, like the identity of space.
It is the domain of individual, self-knowing wakefulness.
To this mother of the buddhas of the three times, I pay homage.
You do not need the empowerment to attend this retreat. The first day of this program is the festival of Chokor Duchen; there will be a Green Tara tsok. Retreatants attending the Chod program the previous weekend may stay on the land until this retreat -- please contact the registrar for details if you would like to combine both.
About the Teacher
An inspiring practitioner and delightful teacher, Ani Dekyi Chodron was a personal disciple of Tulku Urgyen Rinpoche. She has spent most of her life as a nun at the hermitage of Nagi Gompa on the slopes of the Kathmandu Valley in Nepal. The nuns at Nagi are known for the power of their Tara practice, and Ani Dekyi is an expert! She has completed the traditional three-year retreat. For the last few years she has traveled extensively to Gomde centers in Europe and the West, teaching (she is an excellent English speaker) and sharing her insights.
