Personal Practice Retreats
October 10, 2011 - May 31, 2012
Retreat accommodations are available when programs are not in session. Personal retreats can range from a weekend to several months from October to May. Retreatants can mingle practice sessions with time spent appreciating Gomde’s unique natural environment. Walking trails crisscross 250 secluded acres of woods and meadows and meander along the banks of the rushing Eel River. Or you may choose to do an exclusively indoor retreat.
The River House has three bedrooms, two bathrooms, laundry facilities, and a back deck overlooking the Eel River. The kitchen and bath are fully equipped. Local phone connection but no internet. Suitable for small practice groups.
The newly remodeled Tara Cottage overlooks the Eel River. The interior is a very large self sufficient studio for one person with full kitchen, bath and walk-in-closet. Large glass windows access a view of the river through the trees.
Mattresses, blankets, and pillows are provided. Please bring your own bed linens and towels, or rent a package for $15. You are responsible for your own food and meals. Staff members may be able to help with some shopping needs, depending on their schedules and commitments.
Retreatants are welcome to join staff in the Sangha House Shrine Room for morning and evening practices, as well as any special ritual or feast offerings. The Buddha Hall is also available for individual practice sessions when there are no other programs at Gomde. A library of over 600 Buddhist titles is open to all residents.
