Tara Retreat: The Essence of the Two Accumulations
With Lama Tenzin Sangpo
October 22 - 27, 2019
We are delighted to announce another Green Tara retreat this October with Lama Tenzin Sangpo at Gomde California. This year, we will practice the Outer Tara Sadhana. This practice is considered to be extremely powerful for gathering positive conditions – both for the sake of realization as well as the fulfillment of worldly aspirations. The retreat is open to everyone and also corresponds with Part One of the Third Excellence of Tara’s Triple Excellence. Lama Tenzin will offer teachings and instructions on the practice, but the majority of our retreat time will be spent engaged in the sadhana.
The Essence of the Two Accumulations is an extraordinary practice that was hidden in Tibet by Padmasambhava and revealed by Terton Chokgyur Dechen Lingpa. This sadhana confers an abundance of benefits, and as Dzongsar Khyentse Rinpoche has stated, carries unique blessings. Within the Nyingma system, this Outer Tara Sadhana retreat falls under the category of Kriya Tantra. The outer conduct associated with this practice thereby emphasizes dietary restrictions (vegetarian, no eggs, onions or garlic) and cleanliness. It is also said that when we do this practice we should try to wear cotton and refrain from wearing animal products. We will undertake extensive chanting of the Praises to the Twenty-One Taras within the context of a powerful visualization practice.
This is an opportunity to spend time genuinely practicing at our quiet and beautiful retreat center in autumn. Many of us look forward to the October Tara retreat, for the profundity of Tara’s practice but also for the sincerity, depth, and wisdom that Lama Tenzin brings with him to Gomde each year. We hope you will join us.
