10th Annual New Year’s Vajrasattva Retreat
With Lama Gerry Prindiville
December 27, 2019 - January 4, 2020
Gomde’s Annual New Year’s retreat focuses on the deity Vajrasattva—an expression of the ultimate purity of our intrinsic nature. Vajrasattva is the essence of all the Buddhas, so all deities are included within this single deity and all practices within this one sādhana. When you practice this short liturgy of Vajrasattva, it is as if you practice every sādhana of every deity.
This profound practice of the Sangtik Dorsem was revealed by the great master, Chokgyur Lingpa, as part of the Sangtik cycle of instruction. It purifies the afflictions that arise due to our past negative actions, clears our mental obscurations, and reveals our stainless essence, the ultimate Vajrasattva.
This program will offer practitioners the opportunity to become immersed in sadhana practice in a traditional retreat setting. Question-and-answer opportunities, formal instruction, and extensive daily training will allow us to really get to the heart of Vajrasattva practice. We will serve three meals a day of fresh and locally-sourced vegetarian food.
This will be a genuine retreat; although we offsite lodging is permitted we ask that practitioners carry the sense of closed retreat into their sleeping quarters. Lama Gerry is emerging from isolated personal retreat specifically to offer this program. Practitioners of all levels are welcome to attend.
Lama Gerry completed a traditional three-year retreat in Nepal, under the guidance of Chökyi Nyima Rinpoche, in 2007. Since that time, Rinpoche has on numerous occasions requested Lama Gerry to give meditation instruction and practice advice to Rinpoche’s students. When Lama Gerry moved to California from Nepal in 2011, Chökyi Nyima Rinpoche asked him to teach and lead retreats at Gomde.
